Ed. note:
This update regards the
upcoming historic Continental Congress 2009 event
to be held in Philadelphia directly across from
Independence Hall. As part of CC 2009,
delegates selected by the People from each of the
fifty states will convene to discuss the
Government’s ongoing violations of the
Constitution and strategies the People can employ
to peaceably curtail the abuse. Although these
violations have been widely debated for years, it
is the Government’s patent refusal to respond to
any and all First Amendment Petitions for Redress
that now compel the People to justly and actively
resist the tyranny.
We strongly encourage our readers to review
each of our
latest updates.
At a minimum, please be sure to read our “Summit
Call”
and “Line
in the Sand” web
articles
which provide a good overview of the
constitutional crisis and CC 2009
initiative.

WTP Congress coordinator Fred Smart has provided a resounding
example of local activism in support of the
Continental Congress 2009 initiative. This Sunday, in Wheaton,
Illinois, Smart has crafted a local Chicago-area
event dubbed, “Bowling for Freedom.”
Smart arranged for the banquet room at a local bowling alley
to be reserved for the entire afternoon at the
Wheaton Bowl, 2031 N. Gary Avenue, in Wheaton,
IL (630) 668-4102. The doors will open at 12:30 pm
and Bob Schulz’s presentation will begin promptly at
1 pm.

To augment the “Bowling for Freedom” event, Smart
also created an engaging
Internet blog page which integrates language
from previous WTP web updates about the CC 2009
project along with other elements (graphics, videos,
etc.) to bolster the message. Quoting in part from the “Bowling” blog:
On Christmas Day 2008 Bob Schulz published this message which
said, in part, the following:
The People Draw the Line in the Sand
On this Christmas day, and faced with our daunting
cause, we are reminded of scripture. In Paul’s
letter to the Romans he wrote:
“….There is no authority except that which God
has established. The authorities that exist have
been established by God. For rulers are not a terror
to good works, but to evil. For he is God’s servant
to do you good.
“….For he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute
God’s wrath on him who practices evil, so be
afraid…for he does not bear the sword in vain. For
because of this you also pay taxes, for the
authorities are God’s ministers attending
continually to this very thing…” Romans 13:1-6
And from Jefferson we have:
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can
the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we
have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in
the minds of the people that these liberties are a
gift from God? That they are not to be violated but
with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when
I reflect that God is just, and that His justice
cannot sleep forever." (excerpts are inscribed on
the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations
capital) [Source: Merrill . D. Peterson, ed.,
Jefferson Writings, (New York: Literary Classics of
the United States, Inc., 1984), Vol. IV, p. 289.
From Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia,
Query XVIII, 1781.]
Jefferson wasn’t the only Founder moved by such
reasoning. They all knew the evils associated with a
reliance on the whims of men, elected or otherwise,
for individual Liberties and Freedoms.
Unanimously, in signing the Declaration, they all
recognized that individual Liberties are endowed by
“Nature’s God” and the “Creator,” and they all
relied on the protection of “divine Providence” as
they set forth to end Government’s violations of
those Liberties, pledging to each other “our Lives,
our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” Click

On the day before Christmas Bob and his wife, Judy,
got in their van to begin a nationwide tour that
will bring them in front of concerned citizens all
across America. The purpose of this tour is to
announce plans for a "Continental Congress" that
will represent an historic gathering of individuals
who will dedicate themselves to returning our great
country back to the foundational roots of our
Republic.
Here is a video of the recent Continental
Congress Kickoff Meeting in San Antonio, Texas Part

Bob Schulz explains his plan for a Continental
Congress in Philadelphia among representatives from

Smart has also arranged for representatives of numerous other
Freedom groups to participate in the WTP gathering
and distribute word of the event through their
various organizations.
Smart concludes his blog article with this thought,
“Bring your kids. Buy them some popcorn and a slice
of pizza. Encourage them to bowl one or two games
while we continue to network, share our visions and
ideas to save and defend our great country at this
very important time in history.”
Schulz gives a big “hat tip” to Fred for showing everyone how
they can quickly score a few “strikes” for Liberty
in their
little corner of the Republic.
